Creation Notes:
GENRE: bulletin. Responsibility statement (BRE No. 2 copy). Editor Andrei Krylov described the edition as one conceived to be samizdat, but strategically posted as the official wall newspaper (stengazeta) of the Moscow Club of Amateur Song (Moskovskii Klub samodeiatel'noi pesni) (OPYT). The most popular (most copied and distributed in samizdat circulation) were the two issues on Vysotskii - a special issue in Aug-Sept 1980, and issue No. 1 (11) (1981) (OPYT). According to Igor' Karimov, photographer Gennadii Shakin made A4-sized negatives of the original wall paper, which hung on the wall at the club - the negatives were then lent out to people who could make photocopies of them (KARI). Editors (Correspondence with Martin Daughtry, May 2005).
Institutional Holding Notes:
BRE - negatives of MENESTREL' sheets.
