Creation Notes:
GENRE: journal. Title in English "Political Diary" (ALEX 14). Start year, end year, 75 issues (DVAD). Readers included A. Tvardovskii, Mikhail Romm, Boris Astaurov, prominent writers and scientists. Fedor Korolev, member of presidium of Academy of Pedagogoical sciences, supported the edition financially. He made retyping of the edition possible and helped to store materials related to it. In 1968, Sakharov, a regular reader of PD, called it “a supposedly secret publication,” characterizing it as a samizdat magazine for higher Party officials. The title POLITICHESKII DNEVNIK did not appear on any of the issues of the bulletin. The first page announced only the month and year, e.g. October 1968. Internally the group referred to it among themselves as MESIATSY. The phrase POLITICHESKII DNEVNIK was added later as a title for the issues sent abroad for publication (From Medvedev's introduction, COHE 20).
